Vantaa, if you’re travelling to Finland there’s a good chance you landed in Helsinki-Vantaa airport! It’s so close to Helsinki by public transport,essentially part of a tri-city area. There aren’t many public saunas here, but it’s a case of quality over quantity with Vantaa being home to traditional smoke saunas (savusauna). Smoke saunas are a unique experience. The sauna is heated by burning a wood fire in a sauna with no chimney, the smoke builds up over hours before the fire is put out and smoke released. The rocks remain hot for hours, and the smell is truly amazing!

Cafe Kuusijärvi
Kuusijärvi is a locals favourite for the multiple smoke saunas on offer, with one smoke sauna also being wheelchair accessible. Arriving by hike is also possible thanks to the neighboring Sipoonkorvi National Park.

Flamingo Spa & Waterpark
A classic spot for an easy day out. While Flamingo is also home to a family friendly water-park, the ‘Spa & Sauna world’ side is more of a mini-bathing complex .
Open: Mon-Thru 08:00-21:00, Fri-Sun 08:00-22:00, multiple exceptions through the year.
